Day of Simple Pleasures

It’s been one of those near-perfect days.  Seventy degrees; the sun has shone bright and warm in the sky.  A gentle breeze has rustled the leaves, fluttered the laundry on the line, and kept my wind chimes singing throughout the day.   The laughter of children mixed with bird song drifts through the window.  The pollen drifts in as well, tickling my nose and irritating my eyes, but the flowers that are starting bloom in the garden, and the leaves covering the once-naked tree branches make it worth the sniffles and the watering eyes.   Everything about the day has been so...

David’s Songs of Thanksgiving

“Give to the Lord, O families of the peoples, Give to the Lord glory and strength.  Give to the Lord the glory due His name.  Bring an offering and come before Him.  Oh, worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness!  Tremble before Him all the earth.  The world also is firmly established, it shall not be moved.  Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad; and let them say among the nations, “The Lord reigns.”’  I Chronicles 16:28-31    David loved to praise the Lord.  Before he was a king, while he was a lowly shepherd, he was a musician.  He had a heart for the Lord...

Autumn Melodies

“I will praise the Lord with my whole heart in the assembly of the upright and in the congregation.  The works of the Lord are great, studied by all who have pleasure in them.  His work is honorable and glorious, and His righteousness endures forever.  He has made His wonderful works to be remembered.”  Psalm 111:1-4a It was a blustery morning.  The wind whipped the tree branches against the side of the house as I readied to run my errands.  The wind whistled a lonely tune through the window panes that didn’t quite blend with my Choral Praise music that filled the inside air.  I...

Song of Creation

“The heavens declare the glory of God, and the firmament shows His handiwork.  Day unto day utters speech, and night unto night reveals knowledge.  There is no speech nor language where their voice is not heard.  Their line has gone out through all the earth and their words to the end of the world.”  Psalm 19:1-4   It was the rustling sound in the brush that got my attention first.  My heart jumped in my chest and I squeezed the brakes on my bike.  I stared into the woods, expecting to see a small bear or bobcat (bears in our area are seldom seen, but not impossible.  Bobcats...
