“I will praise the Lord with my whole heart in the assembly of the upright and in the congregation. The works of the Lord are great, studied by all who have pleasure in them. His work is honorable and glorious, and His righteousness endures forever. He has made His wonderful works to be remembered.” Psalm 111:1-4a
It was a blustery morning. The wind whipped the tree branches against the side of the house as I readied to run my errands. The wind whistled a lonely tune through the window panes that didn’t quite blend with my Choral Praise music that filled the inside air. I could hear the leaves rustling in tune with the wind almost in chorus.
My drive was lined with trees straining to hold onto the green that remained on their skin. Bits of yellow, orange and brown dotted the trees. The wind whipped again, sending a spray of leaves across the road, a bright red that didn’t match any of the trees that lined the street. Where in the world had that come from?
As I drove through the red blanket on the roads, they swirled up behind the car and chased me down the road, following my path as I made my way toward town. More yellow and orange trees lined the path, but I could see ahead a bright red tree bursting through the masses of green, orange, and yellow. What a beautiful tree!
The wind blew the branches making the trees dance to the tune. I could hear the stream trickling close by and the birds were singing along with the music. The clouds overhead were so thick that the morning sunlight had to force its way through to shoot down and touch the earth. I wanted to sing along, but how do you sing with nature?
All I could do is hum along with the praise music that still filled my heart and mind from my morning routine. The rest of my drive was a special melody of praise to the Lord. What a wonderful way to start the day!
What beauty the Lord has surrounded us with! He blankets our lives with bright color and fills us with songs sung by nature. I couldn’t be left out. I had to join the autumn melody!
